This year, National Small Business Week runs from May 5th to May 11th and provides an excellent opportunity to support small business owners in your community. After all, small businesses play a critical role in the American economy and the lives of essentially every American.
Small businesses are the back bone of the economy—responsible for two-thirds of all new job creation and act as the employer for half of the country’s workforce. By creating and providing jobs to millions of people, small business entrepreneurs ensure that local economies are stimulated. In addition, entrepreneurs provide employees with big opportunities—offering entry-level jobs, highly skilled careers, and everything in between.
National Small Business Week has been celebrated every year for more than five decades. To mark the occasion, don’t forget to visit some of your favorite small businesses. You can also take part in the Small Business Administration’s free online virtual conference on Tuesday, May 7th and Wednesday, May 8th.
For small business owners, this is also a great chance to say thank you to your customers and even use social media to tell the story of your business.
The American Dream wouldn’t be possible without small businesses, and we shouldn’t take these vital pillars of our community for granted. So to all the small business owners and everyone who relies on them, happy National Small Business Week!
